Hell in Distress

A simple story.
Once there was a library. There were many magazines which were subscribed and readers could read them.
One day a reader got hold of PLAYBOY magazine and he protested and said that this magazine should not be there in the library.
So the librarian decided to remove ALL TYPES OF MAGAZINES from the library.
No Science Reporter,  No Youth Today, No India Today not Business Weekly nothing.
All magazines were removed.
Do you think the librarian did the correct thing by removing all magazines when only the required one was to be restricted????

Something similar happened this year at Ghaziabad Kali Bari where the GKB Samitee members took a decision of not allowing GIRLS ABOVE 12 years age from PARTICIPATING / PERFORMING ON-STAGE because some Tom DIck or Harry objected to the DANCE performance of ABOVE 12 YEARS GIRLS during Saraswati Puja day earlier this year.

In the month of August me and five friends of mine from Sanjay nagar Ghaziabad, decided to do a small play which we wanted to perform on stage during Durga Puja celebrations at Kali Bari Mandir at Sanjay Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Unfortunately after we had taken requisite permission and time slot of ten minutes on Saptami, we were suddenly told that we can't do this as we had two GIRLS in the play over the age of 12 years.

Now someone in the commitee took a rather regressive and anti feministic step of restricting dance performance of girls to an age of below 12 years.

First of all I am always against such steps as they are regressive and anti women. Anyways we went on to argue that our play was just about 10 minutes in length and there was no songs or dance involved. But to no avail. Who ever in his infinite wisdom took this decision was way too adamant and probably lost his common sense for good.

But the funniest and most frustrating part was that this infinitely stupid rule applies only to GIRLS OF SANJAY NAGAR and not everyone else. So all the performers being called from outside were exempted from this rule. Good for them.

Someone, whoever is the infinitely wise being, who took the decision about not allowing girls from taking part forgot that he was to define it as DANCE and not PERFORMANCE.

I couldn't believe my ears that PERFORMANCE and DANCE are synonymous.
Ahhhhh.....

Anyways, my brother had written the script and directed it. We performed it in Debashri's home and videoed it. But by the end we had grown so frustrated that we decided not to even show it on projector as someone said from the committee that even projection may not be allowed as it had a girl in it.

I am just wondering if people like them ever were to come to power in centre India will be Talibanised without the need of Talibans setting their feet on our nation.

Here is the video. Watch it and decide for yourself what was so wrong in this. We have performed it without proper costumes. So the stuff is stripped down.

Thanks for watching and reading.
