Sector 23, J block. When it was made people thought it won't survive even one earth quake. Till date it has survived atleast seven. So every time an earthquake strikes, its value doubles. We bought it for 16 thousand. Today its value is 10 lakhs. Still it is considered one of the most backward areas. we've been living here for nearly two decades now. Many of my friends and students and some other people too have asked me why i stay there even now when i'm capable of moving out. I thought i'd give a logical answer of what i feel.
Here i've seen the real nature of life. I've seen the good and bad days of people around me. Struggle for existence , struggle to do something worthwhile, struggle to be something, i've seen it all. I've seen the humane nature of human beings. One person shouts for help and the entire locality comes calling. I've talked to complete strangers as if we knew each other for years. I agree the house is small, the locality is dirty, people are not too literate, but they are more human than the highly educated, sophisticated, upper middle class fellows living in big apartments, posh localities with big pockets but small hearts. Somehow most people who through their hard work create big pockets for themselves, somehow either don't appreciate the less lucky counterparts or just forget their own roots. But then all people are not same. Exceptions are there on either side.
